Hey, I managed to persuade my 10 year old to watch me puff and pant my way to the top of Mt Taylor last night. He seems keen to do more. Where should we look to walk next? Is there a top ten for the region? thanks!
thanks for this! next question: are you aware of map of the region that shows the mountains/hills? sort of thing you can put on the wall and mark off as you go?
Hello Mike, apologies as I must of missed this post! If you go to the Namadgi or Tidbinbilla Visitors Centre, a series of maps called, The Rooftop Maps have been produced covering quite a few areas. Most importantly, one covers the ACT. They are very good as not only do they show you topographical features, but also information on landmarks and historical sites. They sell for around $15.
If you were wanting to use a map and compass for navigation purposes, I would purchase the actual topographical map as although the rooftop maps are really good, it can be argued that their primary purpose was not for land navigation. Hope that helps.
